This Library is on the Little Free Library Map!

North Coast Rotary has teamed up with the French Creek Family YMCA to install a Little Free Library —a children’s book-sharing box—now located near the Y’s vibrant children’s room.

This initiative is part of a larger District 6600 Rotary quadrant literacy project involving multiple clubs who purchased kits, painted parts and assembled the Little Free Libraries for the locations of their choice contributing to community-based book access. North Coast Rotary was proud to collaborate with Robyn Gauder and the French Creek Family Y for the  placement of the library.

Thanks to generous donations from Avon Lake City Schools, the Little Free Library is already brimming with children’s books to inspire young readers and spark imaginations.

Little Free Library is a registered trademark, officially recognized by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2013. These beloved boxes invite anyone to take or leave a book, operating on the honor system. North Coast Rotary and the French Creek Family Y will continue to maintain the library. Stop by, pick up a story, and help us grow a community of readers!

You Did it!  85+ Blankets to Homeless StandDown!!

Thank you to all our blanket donators and to Ridge Cleaners.  Rotarians and friends transported almost 90 blankets to the Homeless Stand Down last week.  This was a 30% increase over last year’s donation, and it was much appreciated by the Stand Down organizers and the recipients.

The Blanket drive will continue and be more important as the temperatures drop.  We have recently received many blankets from donors to the Good Neighbor Thrift Shop and donations from the French Creek Family Y.  Thanks again for your help in keeping others warm.

Blankets needed for Homeless StandDown

North Coast Rotary will be supplying blankets to the Homeless Stand Down on October 24th. A huge THANK YOU to those who have already donated!

If you have not yet donated your used but usable blankets or wish to donate new blankets, please take advantage of our collection boxes at: French Creek Family Y, Domonkas Library, Braeden Friss State Farm Agency, First Federal Lakewood Avon Lake Branch, GenFed Financial, Avon Lake Public Library and Ridge Cleaners. Thank you in advance for your support!

Ace Hardware Donates Seeds

A big Thank You to Tom Nekoloff,  Manager of the Ace Hardware Avon Lake Store, who donated 400+ packets of vegetable, flowers and herb seeds to North Coast Rotary Foundation.  We distributed them to our community partners:  Community Resource Services (CRS), the Avon Lake Public Library, the Domonkas Library (Sheffield Lake) and the French Creek Family Y for their Youth Summer Camp.

Pictured are half of the seed packets donated! Check with your local libraries!

Blankets for Beds Thank You and Keep Them Coming!

Thank you to the many people who have donated blankets gently used or new – please keep them coming!  Just recently 75 Blankets were delivered to Neighborhood Alliance.  A continuing thank you to Ridge Cleaners who cleans, sanitizes and wraps each blanket, and to the French Creek Family Y for providing temporary storage!

For your convenience, The Avon Lake Public Library and Moe’s Southwest Grill in Avon along with other organizations have agreed to be collection points. And you can always drop blankets off at Ridge Cleaners.
