Rotary Garden at the French Creek Family Y Project

The Rotary Garden at the French Creek Family Y in Avon is finished and was dedicated on Friday September 10, 2021.  The Rotary project to transform the greenspace at the front of the French Creek Family Y was spearheaded by Eric Stinehelfer, Rotarian and Director of the Y and Rotary Club President and landscape contractor Douglas Maurer.  The Rotary Garden features a forty-inch diameter machined steel Rotary Wheel mounted on a six-foot tall quarry stone weighing in at well over 2000 pounds.  Pink and white flowers of petunias and begonias line the beautiful winding path through the Rotary Garden (that no small child seems to be able to resist).

The Rotary Garden path leads to the French Creek Memorial Garden, dedicated to French Creek YMCA staff that have passed.  Members of the Y’s newly formed Garden Club were instrumental in planning, collecting donations, and “building” the memorial garden while Rotarians lent a helping hand.  An Eastern Red Bud tree planted in the FC Memorial Garden honors beloved Yoga Instructor Rob Schulman and was sponsored by members of the French Creek & Greater Cleveland YMCA.
