In 2021, Domonkas Library Manager Anne Godec, Friends of Domonkas Library and North Coast Rotarians began discussions and committed funding and support to bring a Storybook Trail to Sheffield Lake.  Not long after, the Lorain Public Library System budgeted for a Storybook Trail in Sheffield Lake, and the City quickly identified a location. 

The Ferndale Park Storybook Trail project was sixteen months in the planning, procurement and construction stages.  City Service Director Pat Hastings worked closely with Lorain Public Library System staff to design the Trail. Seventeen stations are evenly spaced to take advantage of a ½ mile walking trail partially edged by tall trees. The Trail is adjacent to a green grassy play area and skate park.  There is clear signage and a small parking lot. The Trail was opened on a beautiful October fall day with children from Kids Academy, Mayor Bring, Friends of Domonkas library, Lorain Public Library staff and North Coast Rotarians.

The Domonkas library staff, headed by Anne Godec, will be changing the books monthly from April through November and will announce each coming book on their website.  The Sheffield Lake Storybook Trail is located at 4280 Ferndale Avenue, Sheffield Lake.
