North Coast Rotarians joined Marilyn Zeidner of Music on a Mission and the City of Avon Lake to plan, organize and support the 2nd Annual Make Music Day Avon Lake on the Summer Solstice, June 21, 2022.
The 2nd annual celebration featured musical performances from 4 – 9 PM more than 20 performers and groups including various bands from the Rock Academy , Billy Coakley Drum Along, St. Joseph Choir, Merples, Rick Keane, Music on a Mission’s Kids, Ri Rosecrans Music, Nowhere Men (British Invasion), One-Eyed Fred, No Strangers Here (Irish Folk Band), the Singer’s Club of Cleveland and many more!
Earlier in the day the Avon Lake Public Library hosted a children’s drumming event where children had the opportunity to hear different drumming techniques and make their own music. Children brought pots, pans, wooden spoons and more to drum along with the drummers.
North Coast Rotarians provided signage, traffic and safety control, information and map/schedules of events, water, and Make Music Day t-shirts. Volunteers from New Westsiders and Community Resource Services were on hand to support where needed.
At Bleser Park and Veterans’ Memorial Park, Stomper from the Lake Erie Crusher’s welcomed guests and posed for pictures. Avon Lake Director Barb Cagley’s digital media team took photos and videos. Guests enjoyed free pizza donated by Master Pizza of Avon. Food was also available for purchase from Weber’s Premium Custard & Ice Cream, Cleveland Cookie Dough Company, and Off the Griddle.

Make Music Day is a one-day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music and other musical events take place around the world on the longest day of the year.
