History

The North Coast Rotary Club (formerly known as the Avon / Avon Lake Rotary Club) was chartered in 1967 by Rotary International. Its service district includes Avon, Avon Lake, Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village. There were 20 charter members of the club, representing all aspects of the community including banking, education, law, finance, the clergy, police, fire, eldercare, manufacturing, real estate and hospitality.

In 2010, the club established the Avon / Avon Lake Rotary Foundation, Inc. as a public charity with non-profit 501(c)(3) status as per the Internal Revenue Code.

In July 2015, the club received approval from District 6600 and Rotary International to change its name to the Rotary Club of North Coast, Northeastern Lorain County to reflect our emphasis on expanding our service and involvement to neighboring communities of Lorain County on Lake Erie.

The Avon/Avon Lake Rotary Foundation, Inc. was similarly renamed to the North Coast Rotary Foundation, Inc. in 2016.
