Students of the Month

Past President Doug Maurer brought the Student of the Month program to North Coast Rotary four years ago. Rotarians Gina Eschke, Ben Hodge and Bob Scott representing their respective school systems, developed the criteria:  to recognize students who make a difference, who go above and beyond and are “unsung heroes” .

The program is coordinated by Ben Hodge at Avon, Mario Gingo at Avon Lake, and Val Rion at Brookside.  Each student receives a certificate of recognition, a Student of the Month pin (new in ’23-‘24), a $20 gift card to a local pizzeria and gift passes to Main Event who is a co-sponsor of the program.

Each month typically from September through May, at a Rotary meeting, Program Coordinators introduce their student, describe why they were selected then give the student an opportunity to tell everyone a little about themselves.
