Were you among the almost 300 guests who enjoyed pizza at Avon Lake High School on Homecoming Thursday? It was North Coast Rotary and Avon Lake City Schools’ 16th annual Great Pizza Bake-Off.
A huge thanks to our sponsors, Avon Lake City Schools, especially emcee Jack Dibee, Lorain County Community College’s FabCab team, our participating pizzerias and you, our guests. Thanks also to youth from Key Club and Interact who assisted with check-in, cookie and drink tables and children’s activities. Thanks also to the Avon Lake Early Childhood PTA, ALECPTA, who partnered with Rotary for a portion of the proceeds from each ticket they sold.
Every year guests vote for their overall favorite better known as the People’s Choice Award. Votes are also tallied for Best Pepperoni, Best Specialty and Best Crust. We have a mystery guest who samples every single pizza and selects his or her favorite for the Pro’s Choice Award.
And the awards went to:
People’s Choice – Big M!
Old School – Best Pepperoni pizza!
Master Pizza – Best Crust and an Award of Excellence, a special recognition for their years of support!
Domino’s and Dirte Pi tied for the Best Specialty pizza award!
Dirte Pi also won the Pro’s Choice Award!
We also shared with guests our two projects:
- Blankets for Beds – All blankets collected now will support the Homeless Stand Down on October 24th.
- With Sprenger we are also collecting Used but Usable Medical Equipment for MESA pick up at Sprenger on October 19th. Most recently a container of equipment was shipped to Ukraine!
Proceeds from our Great Pizza Bake-off fund community and youth initiatives. Thank you again!
