North Coast Rotary thanks the Avon School Administration – Ben Hodge, Kristina Buller, and Rob Woods; the Avon Music Boosters; and Avon students, families and friends for your support at North Coast Rotary’s Great Pizza Bake-Off!
Everyone seemed to enjoy the varied pizza samples from Cafe Piccolo, Donatos, D’Tutanelli’s, Marco’s, Masters, Neechi’s and Pizza Hut and especially the generously donated donuts from Peace, Love and Little Donuts.
Funds raised will be used for multiple youth initiatives including leadership seminars, speech and writing contests, international youth exchange, scholarships and other programs.
Pizza!Pizza!Pizza!At Avon HS – Great Pizza Bake-off Thursday Feb 7 4:30 – 6:30 PM

Sample pizza, vote for your favorites and support Rotary! Vendors include: Cafe’ Piccolo, Domino’s, Marco’s, Master, Neechi’s, Pizza Hut and D’Tutanelli’s. Desserts courtesy of Peace, Love and Little Donuts.
North Coast Rotary will also have, on-hand, a collection trailer that is used for collecting used medical equipment and supplies. The equipment and supplies collected are ultimately sent to needy countries throughout the world. As an example, if you have an old walker, or a pair of crutches, or even the likes of a no-longer used knee or ankle brace, please bring them to the Pizza Bake-Off. You will be doing a great service and you’ll likely clear something out of your closet that you’ve been meaning to get rid of anyways. Additionally, if you have something too large, to be dropped off (i.e. a hospital bed), alternate arrangements can be made to have the medical equipment picked up from your residence.
Rotary Youth Exchange – Is it for You?
Taking time to travel and immerse yourself in another country’s culture takes courage and planning. In the following interview, hear from two students who participated in short-term exchange programs this summer:
North Coast Rotary Youth Exchange Student in Belgium
Inna Nikolova, a senior at Brookside High School, attended her first Rotary Club Meeting in Belgium her host country for this school year. (Its customary to exchange Club Flags.) When asked why she sought the exchange program, Inna said “The fact that I will come back completely fluent in another language is something that will benefit me in the future, especially in my career since I plan to major in International Relations.” Inna had the support of her family, fellow students at the North Coast Interact Club, and Brookside High School teachers and staff. To pay for her travel expenses, Inna worked at Wal-Mart in Avon, held fundraisers at Brookside and received contributions from North Coast Rotary Club and Interact Club and an anonymous donor. We are very excited for her. She promises to keep us updated as her adventure continues.
Sapori’s hosts Rotary Induction and Recognition Ceremony
North Coast Rotary Club members, Rotarians, their families and friends gathered to welcome the new leadership team and to recognize several people who have strongly contributed to the Rotary Club’s initiatives.
After enjoying dinner at Sapori’s restaurant in Avon Lake, the Club recognized Kristin and Michael Kral with a Family and Community Service Award. The Kral family including their daughter Kenzie, have helped with the Rotary Youth Exchange program for the past year.
Mike Kral has also assisted North Coast Rotary by his work on our website, and various promotional communications. Congratulations to Michael and Kristin Kral!
