Our 12th Annual Great Pizza Bake Off at ALHS was a huge success

Over 500 guests joined us in the Avon Lake High School Commons to sample pizza and vote on their favorite. Our event was emceed by Rotarian James Miller and included face painting and Putt-out-Polio with the help of our youth service organization, Northcoast Interact Club.  The ALHS Key Club helped us prepare and clear tables.

Diners sampled pizza from six vendors including Coleone’s, Domino’s, Doughboy’s, Pizza Hut, Romeo’s and Zeppe’s.  And the winners were: COLEONE’S PIZZA voted People’s Choice; DOUGHBOY’S voted Best Specialty Pizza AND winning the Pro’s Personal Choice; ROMEO’S voted Best Pepperoni Pizza.

We want to thank our community who makes this event successful every year, Avon Lake High School, our club members, event sponsors, our dedicated pizza vendors, Sprenger Heathcare ( delicious desserts), ALHS Key Club and the Northcoast Interact Club.

These charity fund-raisers benefit the Rotary Club’s local Foundation which provides scholarships and support for many youth and service initiatives in the four communities that we serve.

Free to Be Project

Recently,  Gail Stumpauzer, CEO of the Free to Be Project met with the Rotary Club to explain their mission to help women and girls know and appreciate their own unique talents and gifts and to realize that they are WORTHY!  Their organization is led by a  volunteer group and was founded in honor of Margeau Stumphauzer, a young woman who fought feelings of inadequacy, not because she lacked talent or beauty, but because of the messages coming at her from so many outside influences.  October 31st will be the 4th annual day of “DISCOVERING You” with a special session for girls ages 10 – 15.  More information is available at Free 2 Be Project Discovering You
