Through funding by Marilyn and Curtis Weems, the North Coast Rotary Foundation is pleased to award a $1000 scholarship to Sarah Pruzan, a 2020 graduate of Avon Lake High School.

While at Avon Lake High School, Sarah was actively involved with students with disabilities both in helping them one-on-one in the classroom as well as helping them to integrate into the school with a classroom coffee business and being involved in the PALS program. She was also a member of Key Club which assists members of the community.
A recipient of the Marilyn Weems North Coast Rotary Scholarship, Sarah Pruzan has taken rigorous academic courses and received many awards, including the AP Scholars Award. She was a member of the National Honor Society, as well as both the National English Honors Society and the French National Honors Society.
Sarah is a kind, caring person with a love for horses and all things French. “As a former French teacher, it is important to me that the recipient of this scholarship be someone with a true love of the language and Sarah exemplifies that love and appreciation for this beautiful language and its culture.” (Marilyn Weems)
Sarah plans to attend the University of Dayton to study Civil Engineering but hopes to include continued learning and appreciation of the French language in her life.
Congratulations to Sarah and all 2020 high school graduates!

Four new members joined North Coast Rotary and were inducted last Tuesday. President Joe Matuscak conducted the induction ceremony in-person and virtually at the meeting. Rotarians welcomed:

North Coast Rotary Foundation is pleased to award a $1000 scholarship to Rayana Meyers, a 2020 graduate of Avon Lake High School. Rayana will pursue education in Biomedical Engineering and intends to continue following her passion for helping others by serving in organizations such as the Global Engineering Club and Alpha Phi Omega.
While at Avon Lake High School, Rayana achieved a superior academic record, participated in Math Club, National English Honor Society and was a Varsity Bowler. In Rayana’s application essay, she credited her four years of volunteer service with Key Club for the opportunity to improve the lives of many and to help in her community. She also further developed her leadership skills serving as Key Club’s Senior Class Representative.

A recipient of the North Coast Rotary Bon Russell Memorial Scholarship, Rayana Meyers exemplifies Rotary’s ideals in her Service Above Self and in the words of one of her teachers, “a very high level of integrity”.
