State Senator Gayle Manning spoke to our club on August 21 with an update about happenings at the Statehouse, plus highlights from her 7.5 years as District 13 senator. She has focused here attention in several areas – business growth and jobs, education – Manning is a retired elementary school teacher – transportation, and funding for capital improveme
nts in Lorain County. Senator Manning also spoke of her efforts to combat the opioid epidemic plaguing our communities. She expressed her appreciation for all the Ohioans who have helped her understand their issues and shared their expertise in so many areas.

North Coast Rotary gets Flexible!

If a breakfast meeting doesn’t match with your busy schedule, we invite you to join us at one of our new monthly lunch meetings – the 4th Tuesday of the month at The Wine Room, 35840 Chester Road in Avon. Lunch is served at 12:15 pm, and the meeting begins at 12:30 pm. President Pete Sandrev has everyone out the door by 1:15 pm. Check our website for a list of lunch dates.
Congratulations Avon Lake – Celebrating 200 years!
Joining other community organizations, Rotarians “ran” carnival games, supervised the Bouncy House and distributed prizes. North Coast Rotary will continue to recognize Avon Lake’s bi-centennial at all of its upcoming events. The Great Pizza Bake Off at Avon Lake High School is September 27th!
Farmers’ Market – CRS
At CRS’s new location, Rotarians and friends unpacked and distributed fresh produce at the CRS Farmers’ Market. The ripe watermelons, heads of lettuce, greens and zucchinis were welcomed by many clients.
This is the 3rd Farmers’ Market that Rotarians have supported for Community Resource Services!
New Officers Installed for the 2018/2019 Rotary Year Induction Dinner at Parker’s
Rotarians, spouses and friends applauded as Past President John Crooks inducted Pete Sandrev as President for the 2018/2019 year. Joe Matuscak was inducted as Vice President. Foundation Coordinator Bob Scott presented Pete with his first Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) award for contributions and service to Rotary. District Governor Maris Brenner, and Assistant Governor Sandy Kaiser joined in celebrating the new officers and PHF recognition. Officers also include Mary Crehore, Secretary and Treasurer Larry Calabrese.

Voted People’s Choice Award by those who attended the event was Coleone’s. Other winners included Best Specialty Pizza – Doughboy’s; Mystery Sampler’s Choice – Dogg House; and Best Pepperoni – Domino’s.
